Social Emotional Learning

One of our core values at UWS is the holistic development of students, which is incomplete without their mental well-being. To achieve this, we have created our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum that focuses on evolving the students into resourceful, empathetic, resilient, respectful, responsible, and learned citizens of our society.

Emotions can facilitate or impede children's academic engagement, commitment, and ultimate school success since relationships and emotional processes affect how and what we learn. SEL curriculum is integrated explicitly into lessons and fostered through an environment guided by our teachers at Universal Wisdom School, Balewadi.

The school counsellor holds a weekly session with each Grade. Through these sessions, the students are guided and empowered to be aware of their emotions, thoughts, reactions, values, and beliefs—and use that knowledge to welcome diverse perspectives, manage strong emotions, and practice compassion towards themselves and others. The aim is to help our students at UWS to become lifelong learners who are self-aware, balanced, caring, and connected to others and who make responsible decisions.

SEL not only improves students' social development and mental health but contributes greatly to strengthening their academic achievement as well.
